INOC, a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) and global provider of outsourced optical and other infrastructure monitoring, reporting and support services, today announces the strategic addition of industry veteran Brian Parker to its executive team as Director of Optical Network Services.  Brian is spearheading the Company’s new Optical Network Services (ONS) Division, set up to support the design, build and maintenance needs of enterprise and carrier optical networking customers. 

Brian returns to INOC with more than 20 years of experience in the optical networking industry.  As Director of Optical Network Services at INOC, he will leverage his extensive experience in data and voice communications technologies to design customized network solutions for INOC's enterprise and carrier customers.  Throughout his career, Brian has designed, installed and managed long-haul and metro area fiber systems, municipal networks, cable operator and Competitive Local Exchange Carrier / Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC / ILEC) telecom network solutions.  He also has experience managing fiber-based service delivery for cable and telecom systems, overseeing all aspects of design, technology support and operations.

EdgeConneX® and Zayo Bring Network Connectivity to Edge Data Centers® Nationwide

Zayo to Supply Fiber Connectivity to Edge Data Centers to Meet Bandwidth Requirements of Customers 

Herndon, VA – January 19, 2015EdgeConneX®, specializing in hosting solutions at the edge of the network, has signed a deal with international Bandwidth Infrastructure provider Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO) to deploy fiber to the EdgeConneX national footprint, providing dark fiber, wavelength and IP services for customers. 

Through this deal, Zayo will build diverse entrances into six Edge Data Centers® and provide diverse entrances to two additional facilities.  Zayo fiber will become available to Edge Data Center customers in Atlanta, Las Vegas, Memphis, Nashville, Portland, Richmond, Salt Lake City and San Diego.  These new markets will join both the Houston and Phoenix Edge Data Centers, which already offer Zayo connectivity.  Customers can access pricing and place orders for connectivity to all of these Edge Data Centers through Tranzact, Zayo’s innovative shopping platform. 

Zayo’s fiber-optic network will allow EdgeConneX customers to access dark fiber and Layer 2 connectivity through wavelengths, Ethernet and IP services at each Edge Data Center.  Zayo customers will be able to connect to a common carrier interconnect facility in each market.  Customers of EdgeConneX require data center locations nearest to the consumer and the bandwidth capability to serve much of the Internet’s content.  This redundant, high-bandwidth solution provides a direct flow of traffic and faster transportation of bandwidth-intensive content.

Open–IX Association to Speak at UK Network Operators' Forum

 

Board Member Keith Mitchell to Discuss Open-IX Model, Progress and Relevance to Peering and Interconnect in Europe

 

CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – January 20, 2015 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces that Board Member Keith Mitchell will speak at the United Kingdom Network Operators’ Forum 30 (UKNOF30)event, to be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Etc. Venues -155 Bishopsgate in London, UK. 

 

Mr. Mitchell, who also serves as the UKNOF Managing Director and Chairman of UKNOF30, will present “Open-IX: Beyond Year One”, taking place at 2:15 PM.  The session will explore the Open-IX model of fostering data center and interconnection standards to improve the landscape of Internet peering and interconnect globally.  Mr. Mitchell will also discuss Association progress to date following its first full year of operation, including defining two key open standards for Internet exchange and data center operators and opening the Open-IX certification process to interested parties worldwide.  Along with helping encourage a neutral and distributed interconnect ecosystem in North America, the Association’s progress has led to the OIX certification of more than 20 locations.  Lastly, Mr. Mitchell will examine Open-IX’s relevance to peering and interconnect in Europe.

 

UKNOF was founded in 2005 to create an open environment for British Internet operators to exchange information on network operations, technologies and practices.  The forum’s main objectives include improving technical coordination between IP network operators within the UK as well as enhancing the efficiency and stability of the UK's network infrastructure.

 

Open-IX is a non-profit association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all.  Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception.
